I've briefly studied British colonialism and the "Africa Problem" (the fact that people were already living on the bits of land that the British wanted), but I hadn't tracked how that extended to the lives of people living in Africa today and under Apartheid. It's a biography, and some of this stuff I knew from his stand-up - like how his dad couldn't be seen with him because having an interracial child was illegal, and how his mum could walk with him, but had to drop him like a bag of weed if a cop showed up - but it's told here with a lot more depth and seriousness.
